Every time a customer comes into contact with any point in your organisation, is an opportunity to make an impression. Whether this is via the phone, email, web site, delivery driver or direct sales force, the customer will have expectations and those expectations will be either met, exceeded or fall below expectations and will influence sales performance either positively or negatively for repeat sales going forward.

What's involved?

• A free of charge diagnostic – typically an hour or so of your time to enable me really understand what you and your team would like to achieve.

• We would talk through who might be involved in the process and agree a venue.

• We would then provide you with a written quotation outlining our recommendations as to the most appropriate way forward together with suggested diary dates if required.

Important considerations

  1. Sales are the lifeblood of any business and you ignore them at your peril.
  2. Not everybody has the confidence or ability to sell and individuals shouldn’t be exposed to customer contact without proper training.
  3. People buy from people and the ability to build trust and rapport quickly is key.
  4. Good product knowledge, sense of urgency, the ability to ask good questions, to be able to understand the customer needs and then align your offering to satisfy the needs of the customer are real skills.
  5. If your business has a strong online presence, then the sales focus will shift down the line from up front sales to service and support when things go wrong.
  6. The capability of an organisation around sales conversion from enquiry to order is the second of the key performance drivers.
  7. Selling skills are also a key part of selling up and on to existing customers once trust is established – often ignored by SME’s.
