Background & Experience
I joined the Mars Group straight from school and since that time have focused my whole career in Sales, Marketing and Customer Excellence.
Having achieved a business degree and later post graduate education at the London Business School, I enjoyed various appointments at board level with a number of large blue-chip consumer product manufacturing businesses.
In 2002, I joined a leading international lean consulting group, where I worked as a Managing Consultant, continuing to expand my experience working with a vast number and range of businesses across a wide range of market sectors and segments – both manufacturing and service – UK and Overseas.
In 2010, I realised a long-held ambition to start my own business dedicated to helping small businesses based here in the South West grow profitably.
The type of businesses I typically help, are small manufacturing companies (£100k to £5m+) run by highly experienced and passionate people, who often don’t have the benefit of an experienced Sales & Marketing person on board to refer to.
They come from across a wide range of market disciplines including everything from engineering to microchips and from electronics to food and drink.
Their needs are numerous and varied.
Over the past ten years, I have had companies come to me trapped with reliance on just one long standing customer to others ambitious to grow, but just lacking experience, direction or vision.
A common issue amongst many has been highly reactive sales and marketing processes (waiting for things to happen) whilst others have had slow follow up processes.
A number of our clients started out as “hobby “businesses and then reached a cross roads where they needed to rethink their strategy.
Some have been highly successful but just not realised their full capabilities whilst others have been helped to prepare for sale.
With the recent pandemic, a whole new raft of issues (as well as opportunities) has arisen with the urgent need to retain existing customers and importantly win new ones.
